Adult Soccer Rules & Regulations
1. The
Columbus Parks and Recreation Adult
Soccer League will be governed by the
LAWS OF THE GAME as utilized by the FIFA
(Federation of International Football
Association). Columbus Rcreation and
Parks reserves the right to design and
alter rules to accommodate city league
play.
2. Team
rosters must be turned in at the time of
registration. Adding players to rosters
must be done prior to an individual
participating in a league game. Adding
players to a team roster must be done at
the
Recreation
Center
by a coach or official team representative.
Phone in additions will not be accepted.
Players may not be added to a team
roster during the last two weeks of the
season. There is a two-week period of
ineligibility when a player changes
teams. Allowing players to play who are
not on your roster may result in
forfeiting the game, only the opposing
team may protest illegal players.
Protest of illegal player(s) may be done
before or during the game, players must
be able to produce a legal ID when
requested by a game official. Rosters
are limited to 25 players but only 18
can be on the bench for a game. Players
can play on only 1 team per night.
Players playing under an assumed name
may be suspended for the remainder of
the league, if it is the last game of
league play, suspension may be enforced
at the beginning of the next league. PARTICIPANTS MUST BE 18 YEARS OR
OLDER TO PLAY IN THE ADULT SOCCER
LEAGUES. No player who currently
competes on a high school, college, or
professional soccer team will be
permitted to play in the
Columbus
Parks
and Recreation leagues.
3. Games
will consist of two 40-minute halves
with a five-minute halftime.
4. A
team will consist of no more than 11
players on the field at one time. A game
may start with no fewer than 8 players
on the field.
5. CO-ED
RULES; A minimum of four (4) players
allowed on the field shall be women. No
more than (6) six men shall be on the
field at one time.
6. Teams
will be required to furnish the referee
with one playable ball and the referee
has the right to reject any ball
considered to be unplayable. All teams
must have an additional ball ready when
the ball is kicked out of play.
7. No
drinking of alcoholic beverages by
anyone connected with your team will be
allowed during your scheduled game or in
the park. Violations may result in a
suspension. If the violation occurs
during the last 2 weeks of league play,
the game may be forfeited. Referees have
the authority to remove players under
the influence of alcohol for safety of
the players.
8. Use
of tobacco products is not permitted on
the playing field or on the sidelines.
Tobacco products are only permitted in
the parking lot area.
9. If
games are rained out, you are not
allowed to practice on the field.
10.
Ejection of a player(s) from a game may
result in a 2-week or four game
suspension for Women's and Co-ed leagues
(if playing in both Women's and Co-ed.
leagues). If there is a Flagrant
Violation, players may be suspended for
the remainder of league or season. If it
is the last game of the league or
season, the player(s) may be suspended
for the next league or season. If
playing in multiple leagues, the
player(s) may be suspended, as specified
above from participation in all leagues.
The League Director shall make decisions
on all suspensions.
11.
Players will wear shin guards, shoes and
numbered shirts at all times. No metal
cleats, hard football type cleats or
street shoes may be worn in league play.
The referee shall be the sole judge of
any footwear or equipment in question.
12.
Slide tackles will not be permitted in
league play.
13.
Unlimited substitutions will be allowed
when the ball is not in play.
14.
Official lineups including first and
last names of players as well as numbers
must be turned in to the referee prior
to the start of the game.
15. In
event of bad weather or light failure,
the contest will be considered a
complete game if more than half of the
playing time has been used.
16. The
referee shall have the authority to make
decisions on any situation not
specifically covered by these rules.
When the game starts the referee is in
complete control of the game.

Rain-Out number to call after 4:00 P.M.
is (614)
645-RAIN (7246). Please do not call
before 4:00 P.M. If there is no recorded
message about the games being rained
out, we will intend to play them as
scheduled. Rain occurring after 4:00
P.M. will delay notification on the
recording. Reschedule information will
be posted on the website when possible.
18.
Referee's decisions are final. No
protests will be allowed concerning
interpretations of the rules by the
referee. Protests will be considered
concerning eligibility of players or
other roster related issues.
19. Game
time, as listed on the official league
schedule will be forfeit time. No
forfeit shall be declared earlier than
the regularly scheduled time. This
penalty cannot be waived. The official
time is the REFEREE'S TIME only.
20. In
case of a tie for a trophy at the
conclusion of League play, the following
tie-breaking procedure will be used to
determine the order of finish.
- Head-to-head results between teams that are
tied will determine the winner.
- If the teams split in head-to-head games, the
goal differential in those games
will be used.
- If teams are still tied, a playoff game will
be scheduled by Parks &
Recreation to determine the winner.
21. If a
team is declared a winner by forfeit,
they will have use of the field for
practice (EXCEPT FOR THE LAST GAME OF
THE NIGHT) until 10 minutes before the
next scheduled game time.
